Author Guidelines

1. The language of the publication is Spanish. All manuscripts will be written in Spanish and processed in Word 6.0, newer or compatible formats. The document will also consider 1.5 spacing, 12-point Times New Roman, justified text, and letter size pages. Maximum length will be of 30 pages for articles, 15 pages for project summaries, and five pages for recensions, excluding bibliography in all cases. Documents written in English and Portuguese will also be accepted. The texts presented in another language should include the title, abstract, and keywords in the respective language and both in Spanish and English.
2. The use of italics for titles of article and journals, titles of sources, transcriptions of texts from sources, words in a language other than Spanish, and/or to highlight a word or phrase is recommended.
3. Authors will ensure the titles of their manuscripts are concise and descriptive, being able to use subtitles if necessary. The title should be indicated in uppercase, bold, and centered. The title must be written in the language of the article followed by its translation in English.
4. Immediately after the title or subtitle of each article, authors will write their names with a footnote callout in asterisk in which they will mention their academic grades, the institution they belong to (stating School, Faculty and/or Department to which they are associated), place of business, ORCID id, and contact information –meaning city, country and e-mail.
5. The main text of the document (except in recensions) must be preceded by an abstract, in both Spanish and English, not exceeding 400 written words, single spaced (1.0). Both abstracts must include between three and five relevant keywords in their respective language.

6. In the body of the text, the levels are identified as follows:

   • The first level with Arabic numbers (1, 2, 3) and uppercase letters in bold.
   • The second level with Arabic numbers (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) and lowercase letters (except for the first letter of the first word) in bold.
   • The third level with lowercase letters (a, b, c) and lowercase text (except for the first letter of the first word) in bold.
7. Footnotes will be indicated in references of consecutive numbers at the bottom of the page. The font of footnotes must be 10-point Garamond, in justified text, single spaced (1.0), without small caps, and superscript Arabic number format.
8. References in footnotes will follow the traditional system as following:

If it is about a book, an article of a journal, chapters and/or electronic references, the following will be indicated within the footnote:

AUTHOR(S) LAST NAME, year of publication (in parenthesis), and page range.

E.g.:

1. Titles with one author: ALEXY (1989), p. 205.
2. Titles with two authors: HAZARD & TARUFFO (2006), p. 40.
3. Titles with three or more authors: All authors will be cited in the bibliography at the end of the document in order that, in the footnotes, it is written as it follows: last name of the first author, followed by the expression “et al.”, year of publication in parenthesis, and respective page of the reference. For instance: DONDI et al. (2017), p. 28.

If the article or book  by the same author are cited and published in the same year, they should be distinguished by a lowercase letter following the publication year.

When referencing a work that has already been cited, if it is in the immediately following note, the abbreviation Ibid.should be used. If it is a later note but not immediately following, the usual citation format should be used.

If it is about legal norms, the following will be indicated within the footnote:

 If it is about jurisdiction, the following will be indicated within the footnote:

Court name, case number and date.

E.g.:

1. Supreme Court, Case No. 223-09, February 28, 2019.

8. References at the end of the manuscript.

9. Short direct quotes should be placed in quotation marks, without the need for italics or indentation. Within these quotes, italics can be used for emphasis, and in such cases, it should be specified whether the italics are from the original source or added by the author.

   Long direct quotes (more than fifty words) should be separated from the main text with a 2 cm left indentation, in font size 11, and without the need for quotation marks.

10. “Bibliography”: All references to books, articles from journals, chapters of collective work, and electronic sources must be included at the end of the article under the title of “BIBLIOGRAPHY” in 1.5 space and 12-point Times New Roman font.

Book references. Components:

AUTHOR(S) LAST NAME, First name (year of publication): Title of publication, edition number (except first editions) (Place of publication, Editorial), volume number.

2. Thesis

2. “Cited Legal Norms”: All references to legal norms must be included at the end of the document under the title of “CITED LEGAL NORMS” in 1.5 space and 12-point Times New Roman font.

• Components: Type of norm, number of the norm, official name, title of the publication where it originally appears, and date of publication, indicating day, month and year.

E.g.:

Law No. 21,394; introduce reformas al sistema de justicia para enfrentar la situación luego del estado de excepción constitucional de catástrofe por calamidad pública. Diario Oficial, November 30, 2021.

3. “Cited Jurisprudence”: All references to jurisdiction must be included on a list at the end of the document under the title of “CITED JURISPRUDENCE” in 1.5 space and 12-point Times New Roman font. All sentences will be added in chronological order.

• Components: Court, date of sentence, case number.
• In case of cited jurisdiction of other countries, the reference system employed by the courts of the origin sentence must be used.

E.g.:
